- The KentHackIt 2026 Team
KentHackIt is the University of Kent's first official hackathon, set up by the Computer Science Society where students of all skill levels come together to learn, collaborate, and innovate. Within 24 hours, participants form teams, attend workshops, receive mentor guidance, and build creative prototypes.
It's an exciting opportunity to explore new skills, gain practical experience, and showcase your ideas in a supportive environment.
Why join KentHackIt?
A hackathon is a creative competition where students collaborate to build projects such as applications, websites, games, and more within 24 hours. Participants work in multi-disciplinary teams, compete for prizes, and learn by building and innovating together.
KentHackIt is open to students and recent graduates from all universities across the UK, from any background. No prior experience is required, workshops and mentors will be available throughout the event.
The hackathon is completely free! We provide participants with food, snacks, and other essential necessities.
Interest registration for KentHackIt 2027 has not been opened yet.
The event is in person and will take place inside Kennedy Building, School of Computing, University of Kent, Park Wood, Canterbury CT2 7FS.
You can arrive solo. Team formation will take place after the opening ceremony. Teams can have between 1-4 members.
Coding begins after the opening ceremony. Brainstorming beforehand is allowed, but prior projects are not permitted. Existing frameworks and tools may be used, provided they are clearly credited.
KentHackIt runs over a weekend, with 24 hours of dedicated hacking time. Participants can head home overnight, stay up through the night, or sleep in Kennedy. We also provide dedicated sleeping and quiet rooms.
If you're staying overnight, we recommend bringing something comfortable, like a blanket or hoodie.
Please bring a laptop, charger, headphones, any other peripherals you prefer to work with, and some comfy clothes if you plan to stay overnight.
Hardware will not be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own.
Since we're introducing a new influx of tickets shortly, spaces will be allocated based on availability once released. If demand exceeds capacity, a waitlist may be opened.
